3d-scanning, Reverse engineering

We use a 3D scanner with a combination of blue LED light made by the GOM ZEISS Group with an achievable accuracy of 0.06 mm to transform complex digital shapes of the object from the real word into the digital form.

The result of the scanning is the so-called point cloud, which can be used to create a polygonal mesh and subsequently a polygonal 3D model of a physical object. We can then use the obtained data in reverse engineering.

REVERSE ENGINEERING

It is a technological process, in which a planar or a volumetric CAD 3D model is made from an actual part, which might be damaged or if there is no drawing documentation for it.

3D digitalization or scanning is the first process of reverse engineering, which includes acquisition of the shape and dimension of the physical part using contactless data collection method.
